Newcastle's new job advert shows no stone left unturned as club search for Liverpool secret

Newcastle United are searching for an experienced sports performance nutritionist as the influence of Eddie Howe and his staff continues to be felt at the club.

Newcastle have enlisted the help of consultant performance nutritionists like Tony Derbyshire and Nessan Costello to work with the first team in recent years, but the Magpies are now advertising for a brand new permanent role at the club. Perhaps, that should not come as a huge surprise.

Nutritionists have, quietly, become crucial figures in the game to ensure players have the right fuel at the right time to deliver optimum performance. Indeed, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp referred to Mona Nemmer, the club's head of nutrition, 'as one of my most important signings'.

Howe, similarly, is constantly searching for that extra one per cent. During Howe's time at Bournemouth, for example, the Cherries even had a nutritional supplement and multivitamin partnership with USANA after the club were promoted to the Premier League in 2015.

At the time, Howe vowed that Bournemouth were 'not leaving any stone unturned in the pursuit of excellence' and the head coach appears to be doing likewise at Newcastle alongside head of performance Dan Hodges.
