Incredible footage shows the ridiculous number of Frankfurt fans who were at Camp Nou
Barcelona are officially out of the 2021/22 UEFA Europa League.
The favourites to win the competition were beaten 3-2 (4-3 on aggregate) by Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday evening in what was an epic encounter at Camp Nou.
A brace from Filip Kostic and a stunning strike from Rafael Santos Borre secured one of the most famous victories in the German side’s history.
Barcelona scored two goals in stoppage-time through Sergio Busquets and Memphis Depay, but they proved to be merely consolations.
Frankfurt will now play West Ham United in the semi-finals of the Europa League after the Premier League outfit’s resounding 3-0 win away at Lyon.
It’s set to be a brilliant knockout tie and you can be certain the atmosphere in both stadiums across the two legs will be enough to give those watching from the comfort of their homes goosebumps.
And if Thursday evening is anything to go by, West Ham should start preparing for an influx of Frankfurt fans at the London Stadium.
Why do we say that? Well, around 30,000 of the German side’s supporters were in Barcelona for the game and it seems the majority of them made it into the stadium as well.
Various videos taken after the full-time whistle had been blown show the absurd number of white-shirted Frankfurt fans who were in the stands to congratulate their team on a memorable victory.
