Newcastle ‘really like’ £35m Premier League star at St James’ Park

Newcastle United ‘really like’ Leeds United winger Jack Harrison and could move for his signature again in the January transfer window, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The Magpies splashed more than £120 million in an effort to bolster Eddie Howe’s squad at St James’ Park during the summer and they will have the chance to invest again at the turn of the year.

After clinging onto the services of the 25-year-old following the end of last season, Leeds are set to open fresh contract talks after he entered the final two years of his £60,000 per-week deal, according to Football Insider.

The report adds that Leeds want to hand Harrison terms that reflect his status as one of the most important members of Jesse Marsch’s side.

But, after missing out on him during the summer, Newcastle have not given up on securing the winger’s services and he is set to be targeted again in January.

Leeds are understood to have slapped a £35 million price tag on their asset although it remains to be seen whether that will be enough to put the Magpies off.

Jacobs understands that Newcastle still ‘really like’ Harrison and have him in mind ahead of the January window.

But the reporter adds that Leeds have always been determined to retain his services, especially after cashing in on two other prized assets.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “Another player Newcastle have in mind for that sort of creative position is Jack Harrison and he’s another one they really like. Let’s see what happens there. Leeds have always been very determined that they won’t sell because they got the money for Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.”
