Newcastle 'offer £1m bonus' to beat Aston Villa to Philippe Coutinho transfer
Newcastle United are reportedly set to offer Philippe Coutinho a huge bonus in order to beat the likes of Aston Villa and Arsenal to the permanent signing of the Brazilian.
Coutinho, 29, has been a revelation since reuniting with Steven Gerrard at Villa in January and has recorded four goals and three assists in just ten appearances in claret and blue. His red hot form is said to have captured the attention of several teams across the Premier League, including the financial powers that are Newcastle United following their recent takeover by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.
Gerrard has made his intentions clear regarding his desire to see the current loan deal for Coutinho at Villa Park to become a permanent one. The Villa boss stated this regarding the possibility of signing Coutinho permanently several weeks ago: "Phil was successful at Barcelona but he had difficult periods as well.
