Newcastle: Howe will soon bring 'better players than Bruno Guimaraes' to St James' Park

Newcastle United will sign “better players” than Bruno Guimaraes this summer, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Brazilian was the Magpies’ marquee signing in January, and it does not look like they are going to stop there.

Guimaraes has been excellent following what was said to be a club-record £43m move from Lyon. Initially, it was a slow start for the 24-year-old, who did not make his first start until March.

However, since that game against Southampton, he has gone on to make a real impact in this Newcastle team.

The midfielder recently scored a delightful chip in a 3-0 win versus Norwich City, which followed his brace in the 2-1 defeat of Leicester City. As a result, Guimaraes has come in for a lot of praise, including from Newcastle legend Alan Shearer.

“The two Brazilians [Guimaraes and Joelinton] were absolutely fantastic,” Shearer said on Match of the Day (via Chronicle Live) after the Norwich victory.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Newcastle will now look to sign players who are even better than Guimaraes once the transfer window is open again.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “Watching Guimaraes and seeing the scenes when he scored that last-minute winner, they’ve embraced him.

“You’ve seen the banners and heard the songs about him. They love Guimaraes. And the best thing about it is there’s better to come. They will sign better players than him.”

If reports are to be believed, then there is a possibility that Guimaraes could have a new midfield partner for the 2022/23 season.
