Newcastle: Howe will now have 'lengthy transfer list' at St James' Park

Newcastle United will have a “lengthly list” of winger targets for the January transfer window, believes Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

The Tyneside club failed to bring one in during the summer, but it looks like they could rectify that when the market reopens.

Last month, The Telegraph claimed that Newcastle were interested in Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, so perhaps he could be one option for them in January.

The American struggled for regular starts in the Premier League under Thomas Tuchel last season, being included in his first XI on just 13 occasions, and was named on the bench in Graham Potter’s first game in charge.

Should his situation not improve at Stamford Bridge, he may very well look for a move elsewhere in the new year.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby is another wide man Newcastle were thought to be keen on, but it is believed that the German club’s asking price was a sticking point.

Downie expects Newcastle to go back in for a winger in the winter transfer window.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Sky Sports reporter said: “I’d be surprised if they don’t add in that position. Who? I don’t know. I would imagine they’ll have a lengthy list and will just try to do what they can. Obviously, January’s a notoriously difficult window to work in.”

Given Diaby’s importance to Leverkusen, with the Frenchman coming up with 13 goals and 12 assists for them in the Bundesliga last term, it is probably unlikely that he will be sold in January.

Pulisic, on the other hand, is a different story, as he is not currently one of Chelsea’s key players.
