Newcastle: 'Big question marks' over future of Eddie Howe regular

Newcastle United ace Martin Dubravka could be allowed to leave St James’ Park at the end of the season as head coach Eddie Howe wants to draft in a new first-choice goalkeeper, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Dubravka has made 121 appearances since making his loan move from Sparta Prague permanent in 2018, but it appears his time on Tyneside could be coming to a close.

According to 90min, Newcastle will not stand in Dubravka’s way if he decides he wants to leave St James’ Park due to Howe seeking fresh goalkeeping options.

The report suggests the Magpies are open to the idea of the 33-year-old moving onto pastures new in the summer as they are in pole position to land Manchester United custodian Dean Henderson.

Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak is also understood to be on the Tyneside giants’ radar and they have potentially been handed a major boost as the Slovenian is reportedly open to a Premier League switch when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

Chelsea shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Sam Johnstone, who is currently on West Bromwich Albion’s books, are also thought to be on Howe’s shortlist of targets.

Newcastle are able to splash the cash after the Saudi Arabia-based Public Investment Fund led a £305million takeover last October, making the Magpies the richest club in world football.
