Newcastle 1-0 Everton: Schar humbled Anthony Gordon after Trippier incident

Newcastle United continued their impressive run of form by beating Everton 1-0 on Wednesday evening.

A superb first half goal from Miguel Almiron – who’s making Jack Grealish look a tad foolish right now – secured three more points for Eddie Howe’s side.

Newcastle are now up to sixth in the Premier League table and will have dreams of qualifying for a European competition next season.

For the fifth time in league action so far this campaign, the Magpies kept a clean sheet and also didn't allow Everton a single shot on target.

Newcastle's defence is undoubtedly one of the best in Europe right now, with Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar, Sven Botman and Dan Burn all dropping top-quality displays for fun.

And to say Howe's seemingly impregnable back-line has got each other's backs on the pitch would be something of an understatement.

Why do we say that? Well, during the match with Everton, Schar absolutely humbled Anthony Gordon seconds after the winger tried to intimidate his teammate Trippier.

Gordon got right in the face of the Newcastle right-back after losing the ball in a challenge and as Trippier walked away, Schar decided to intervene.

The Switzerland international didn't hold back one bit, with Pope among those joining him in putting the Everton starlet in his place.
