New issue hinted at behind-scenes at Liverpool

Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is unhappy at Anfield at the moment and will not change his salary terms in regards to a new contract.

£90m-valued Salah started on the bench for the Reds at Villa Park as the Merseyside outfit prevailed 2-1 thanks to goals from Joel Matip and Sadio Mane. The Egypt international is the Premier League‘s top goalscorer this term, but has managed just three goals in his last ten league games and his future at the club is up in the air.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor believes Salah is unhappy at Liverpool. He said, “I could see his body language on the bench yesterday, the camera kept going to him. He didn’t look happy, and when he finally came on after 70 minutes, when I looked at him he didn’t look happy, shaking his head.

“Players like Salah, he wants goals, doesn’t he? Son’s two goals away from him, Salah will want to win top goalscorer. Something doesn’t seem right between him and Klopp for me. We’ve seen the figures they’ve reported for Haaland’s contract, £375,000 a week. Salah will be looking at that and saying, ‘I’m not changing my terms’.”

Salah has been absolutely phenomenal for Liverpool since signing from Roma in 2017, scoring 155 goals in 251 games in all competitions. He has been crucial to the Reds winning the Premier League and Champions League, and will go down as a club legend.

However, he will have just one year left on his contract at the end of this campaign, and a new deal does not appear to be particularly close, while Salah has refused to commit his future to the club.
