New employer-led Health and Digital Centre to open at Bury College

The continuing employer demand for skilled health and digital staff means those with higher-level qualifications are even more in demand.

Bury College is providing courses that have been developed with and led by employers, providing the specific skills learners need to jumpstart their careers in these sectors of growing need and demand.

Thanks to a £9+ million investment in the brand new Health and Digital Centre - jointly funded by Bury College, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and the Department for Education - students interested in university-level courses in healthcare and digital technologies at Bury College will benefit from a wider range of state-of-the-art, purpose-built facilities during their studies.

Combined with relevant work placements, this will provide the opportunity to gain real-life work skills and to enter the industry with the confidence and experience employers are looking for.

Students on the Healthcare Practice HNC, a year-long course aimed at giving students practical and theoretical experience in the health and social care sector, will benefit from a simulated hospital ward, where learning will be hands-on and industry-led.

This will complement the practical skills gained on industry placements, where students will have the opportunity to learn from qualified industry professionals and build up career contacts.

The new centre will also provide opportunities for the next generation of computing professionals. Learning on the new Digital Technologies HNC will be supplemented by an immersive digital environment and flexible IT suites.
