New Bohemians boss Alan Reynolds vows to 'change mentality' and aim higher

New Bohemians manager Alan Reynolds believes the players must show attitude and ambition as he prepares to begin his reign with a derby trip to Tallaght.

The Waterford native yesterday succeeded Declan Devine, who was sacked after a 2-0 loss to Shelbourne earlier this month.

He has been handed a daunting task in his opening assignment though, an away clash with four-in-a-row champions Shamrock Rovers, who recorded their first win of the new Premier Division season in Galway a fortnight ago.

"Really excited. It's a massive club," Reynolds told RTÉ Sport after taking his first training session with the Bohs squad today.

"I know it's a massive challenge but the timing seems to be right, I feel it’s right for me at this stage of my career.

"I’m no under no illusions there’s a lot of hard work ahead and I’m ready for that.

"Not a lot is going to change between now and Friday but I knew some of the lads from various clubs I've been with, good lads, and there was good energy about the session. They took on the information.

"We have a massive game on Friday that we’re looking forward to so that probably helps, and a new manager coming in with new demands and expectations.

"Any time you play Rovers is a great game. No motivation needed."
