Netflix's Monsters star 'overwhelmed' over Menendez brothers case update

One of the key cast members of the Netflix series Monsters struggled to contain their emotions when asked for a comment on the recent developments in the Menendez brothers' case.

In a significant turn of events, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon's office announced earlier this month that new evidence regarding Erik and Lyle Menendez was under review.

This week, during a press conference held by Gascon, he proposed a resentencing for the brothers, which might result in their release after spending over three decades behind bars.

Ari Graynor, who portrayed Erik Menendez's defense attorney Leslie Abramson in Monsters, expressed her profound reaction.

She admitted being 'overwhelmed' and had to fight back tears upon commenting on the update, reports the Mirror.

At a recent appearance, facing questions from reporters, she emotionally disclosed: "You're going to make me start crying, it just happened too recently that I still feel completely overwhelmed and moved."

Graynor asserted the Menendez brothers right to freedom and paid tribute to Abramson, whose character she brought to life on screen: "They deserve to be out of there and Leslie Abramson, the most iconic lawyer of all time that I had this incredible privilege of playing - this is what she was trying so hard to get the jury to understand 35 years ago."

Reflecting on the gravity of the situation and advocating for the brothers' release, she continued: "It is moving, it is powerful, it is time and I just pray that like Leslie says at the end of her actual closing (argument) was to see Erik walking down the street free from all of this."
