Netflix launches casting appeal for Prince Harry in the next series of The Crown

Netflix has announced an open casting call for its next series of The Crown, as the streaming giant looks for someone to play a young Prince Harry. As season five is set to air in less than a month, Netflix are already preparing to shoot the sixth and final series of the royal drama, which will see events reach near-present day as it chronicles Queen Elizabeth II's reign into the 2000s.

Last month, it was announced that newcomers Rufus Kampa, 16, and Ed McVey, 21, will portray the now Prince of Wales, William, in his teenage and young adult years respectively. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Meg Bellamy is set to portray a young Kate Middleton as she meets her future husband and king at the University of St Andrews, marking the on-screen debut of the three young actors.

The Crown’s casting director Robert Sterne – who boasts an impressive CV including Game of Thrones and Chernobyl – has now shared an open casting call as he hunts for a young actor aged 16-20 to fill the role of a young Prince Harry. The advert states no previous professional acting experience is required, opening the door for yet another up-and-coming young actor to take their first steps in the competitive screen industry.

The casting call notice says: “It is a significant role in this award-winning drama and we are looking for a strong physical resemblance. Shooting will commence November 2022 in the UK.

“No previous professional acting experience required. We are very experienced in providing a great deal of support for the young across and their families through what they find is a uniquely rewarding creative process.”
