Nemanja Matic reveals what Ralf Rangnick said at half-time during Man United vs Atletico Madrid
Nemanja Matic has revealed Manchester United discussed controlling possession more at half-time against Atletico Madrid.
United drew 1-1 with Atletico on Wednesday night in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 in Spain.
United conceded within 10 minutes when Joao Felix's header found the back of the net and they were poor throughout the first half, however, Ralf Rangnick made multiple changes and his interventions from the touchline got United back into the game.
Anthony Elanga was brought on from the bench and scored United's equaliser, three days after scoring against Leeds.
Matic admitted United knew they had a difficult first half after the game and he opened up on what was said during the break.
"We knew it [difficult first half]," Matic told MUTV.
"They had more control, they were leading and they had more chances in the first half. We said OK, let's regroup, let's see what we can with the ball because we didn't control enough when we were in possession.
"I think in the second half, we were much better, much more solid and we scored that goal which gave us positive feelings."
