Neil McCann fears VAR 'guessed' for Kyogo goal but is adamant his verdict will PLEASE Celtic fans

Neil McCann reckons the VAR officials were "guessing" to determine whether Kyogo's opening goal in Celtic's 3-1 win against Hearts was onside - but told Hoops fans he wants marginal calls to be given.

With just four minutes on the clock, Brendan Rodgers men took the lead when Hearts struggled to clear their lines at a corner, allowing Reo Hatate to pick out compatriot Kyogo to head home from close range. With Jambos skipper Lawrence Shankland on the goal line, Hearts stopper Zander Clark acted as his team's second last man, with replays showing that he had narrowly played Kyogo onside.

Former Rangers and Hearts winger McCann wasn't convinced about the lines drawn up by VAR but added that he was happy to see the Japanese star given the benefit of the doubt. Speaking on Sportscene, he said: "I think they have just guessed that big Zander's (Clark) foot is there. But I want to give the advantage to the attacker.

"I am going to let that one go, which will please all the Celtic fans who are at home listening. The whole thing for me is that if Hearts are so resolute at set pieces, how can they take their eye off someone like Kyogo and not pick him up is a concern and they were duly punished."

The Hoops have now opened up a six point lead at the top of the Premiership ahead of Rangers clash with Kilmarnock on Sunday and McCann is in no doubt that they are in the driving seat. He added."What Celtic have done today is put massive pressure on Rangers tomorrow against a Kilmarnock side that Derek McInnes has assembled so well.
