Neil Lennon set for Manchester United showdown as Omonia boss granted his 'sexy' Europa League wish

Neil Lennon's reward for guiding Omonia Nicosia to the Europa League has been revealed as a double date with Manchester United.

The former Celtic and Hibs boss has taken the Cypriot underdogs all the way to the group stage after knocking out Belgian side Gent 4-0 on aggregate in the playoff round. Omonia triumphed 2-0 in the both the home and away legs to catapult themselves into the tournament proper.

And now they've been drawn against the ailing Old Trafford giants, plus La Liga side Real Sociedad and Moldovan outfit Sheriff Tiraspol, who shocked eventual winners Real Madrid in last season's Champions League group stage. Lennon declared after his side's Thursday night victory he wanted a "sexy group" and his wish has been granted in the form of Erik ten Hag's United side, arguably the biggest name in the competition.

The group stage draw was conducted on Friday afternoon and may just have been a bitter pill to swallow for Hearts fans. Despite a strong performance at Tynecastle last night, the 10-man Jambos crashed out to FC Zurich, who have now gone on to draw Arsenal, PSV Eindhoven and Bodo/Glimt.
