Neil Lennon in knowing Manchester United wink as Omonia boss makes Europa League pledge

Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon is sure his Omonia Nicosia will still get something from their tough Europa League group.

The Cypriot side find themselves in a tough group alongside Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sheriff. And after two defeats so far in the competition - a 3-0 loss to Sheriff before a 2-1 defeat against Real Sociedad - Lennon's men have yet to get a point on the board.

It was a much improved performance from Omonia Nicosia as they travelled to Spain to take on the La Liga side as they battled from a goal down to equalise through Bruno Felipe. But an Alexander Sorloth strike in the 80th minute meant the Basque Country side secure all three points. And the ex- Celtic gaffer has now taken aim at the bookmakers following his side's performance in Spain, with Lennon insisting Nicosia's 16/1 price to win was 'not reality'. Things aren't set to get any easier for the Irishman and his men who now face a daunting double-header against Manchester United. But Lennon is confident his side can defy the odds.

When asked whether or not it was possible to get a positive outcome and qualifying from the group, Lennon responded: "Of course. There's still four games to go. We've no points but we will have regrets about both the games.

"But we've shown that we can come to a top La Liga side and compete. We've only got a small team called Manchester United to play now in back-to-back games.

"But you don't any motivation for those games and we need to endeavour to get some points out of it. I think we need to be better on the ball and that's something the players need to take on board.
