Neil Critchley makes Blackpool revelation involving Gary Madine

Blackpool boss Neil Critchley has revealed opposition managers comment on what a handful Seasiders striker Gary Madine is.

Madine has appeared 27 times for the Seasiders in the Sky Bet Championship so far this campaign, scoring eight goals in those appearances.

Speaking to The Gazette, Critchley shared that opposition managers often discuss how much of a problem the 31-year-old was to their defence after the final whistle.

“He’s been a big player for us and a lot of opposition managers comment after the game about what a handful he is,” Critchley explained to The Gazette.

“When you’ve got a fit Gary Madine who is at it, then he’s a big, big player. That’s a testament to himself.”

“He’s just there all the time and he puts his body on the line for you. It’s not easy doing what he does, it’s a big physical effort.”

Madine’s efforts this season have played an important role this season upon Blackpool’s return to the second-tier of English football.

The seasiders currently sit 13th in the Sky Bet Championship, having won three of their last four matches.

Continuing on Madine, Critchley explained that Madine was in a good place as Blackpool entered the Championship run-in.

“He has a lot of 6ft plus defenders grappling with him, fighting with him and trying to get over the top of him, so it’s not easy.” he explained.

“He’s certainly given more than he’s got in the games recently, so for him to keep banging out the games has been a big bonus.”

“He’s in a really good place and he’s gaining a lot of confidence in his body because if you look at his previous few years, that’s something he’s not done.”

Blackpool’s next match comes at home to Nottingham Forest on the 2nd of April, where Madine and Critchley will be hoping to make it
