'Needs to get his focus back' - Insider urges Everton ace to start 'proving himself'

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Everton midfielder Dele Alli may be suffering from issues off the field which are affecting his performances.

Alli signed for Everton from Tottenham Hotspur in January, but is yet to start in the league for the Toffees and has featured six times off the bench. Everton are struggling at present, as they sit just one place above the relegation zone.

Frank Lampard signed Alli from Spurs in the hope that he can help turn Everton’s poor form around, but instead, he has failed to make an impact as they have won just once out of their previous five Premier League games.

With Dele failing to perform in a Toffees shirt so far, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and suggested that he needs to get his focus back to his performances on the pitch.

He said: “There’s some talk about issues in the background for Dele that need to be addressed, and maybe he needs to get his focus back to matters on the pitch and proving himself there.”

Alli has been in poor form for both Spurs and Everton this season in the Premier League, he is currently averaging a goal every 826 minutes, has a successful dribble rate of 44%, and makes an average of 0.4 key passes per game, as per SofaScore.

After he signed for Spurs, he made a real impact on the side, scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances in the 2015/16 Premier League season, followed by 18 goals in 37 appearances the following campaign, but since then, his stats in terms of goals have slowly decreased, and he is currently out of favour at his new club.

It will be interesting to see if the former England international can revitalise the form that he had in the early stages of his Spurs career once given his chance at Goodison Park.
