The 2023 NBA All-Star Game is set to take place Sunday at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City. This season's game marks the 30th anniversary of the first NBA All-Star Game hosted by the Utah Jazz in 1993.
NBA All-Star Saturday began with the skills challenge won by the hometown favorite Team Jazz. Damian Lillard won the 3-point contest in his third appearance in the event and Mac McClung gave the ultimate grand finale in his Slam Dunk contest win.Grambling State defeated Southern 69-64 in overtime in the NBA HBCU Classic on Saturday.
On Friday night, Jose Alvarado was named MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge for Team Pau, which beat Team Joakim in the title game of the mini-tournament. NFL starDK Metcalf led Team Wade to a 81-78 victory over Team Ryan in the celebrity game.
After five seasons of holding the draft weeks before the All-Star Game, the NBA moved the festivities to the day of the game, making it even more like the playground format the draft was meant to emulate.
