Nathan Patterson sent Everton 'patience' message as Frank Lampard doubles down on squad snub

Frozen out Nathan Patterson has been told to wait for his chance by Everton boss Frank Lampard.

The Scotland right-back hasn't got going at Goodison Park since leaving Rangers in January for a record-breaking fee.

After the axe fell on Rafa Benitez, Patterson has struggled to make any impact at the Toffees since the arrival of Frank Lampard.

He has made just one appearance for Everton - and was hooked at half-time during the FA Cup clash with Boreham Wood.

Since then Patterson has been left out of the squad completely for the defeats to Tottenham and Wolves.

Former Celtic loanee Jonjoe Kenny is suspended for the clash with Newcastle on Thursday night and Patterson could be in the running for a return to the matchday squad.

However, boss Lampard has cooled talk of a return in the midst of the English Premier League relegation scrap.

He warned the 20-year-old he would have to bide his time and work hard behind the scenes to catch his eye.

Speaking to the media ahead of the clash with Eddie Howe's side, Lampard said: "He’s one for the now and one for the future.

“He just has to stay patient keep working and I'll find the right time for him to come into the team.”
