Nathan Patterson Everton return timeline laid bare as Scotland star faces frustrating spell on sidelines

Crocked Everton star Nathan Patterson faces six weeks on the sidelines after picking up a knock while on Scotland duty, according to a report.

The Scotland star had to be stretchered off at Hampden on Wednesday night after going down during the victory over Ukraine and was replaced by Aaron Hickey. The 20-year-old withdrew from Steve Clarke’s squad the following day and returned to the Toffee’s Finch Farm training base to have scans on both his knee and ankle, missing the Nations League win over Ireland at the national stadium.

Following win over Ukraine, boss Clarke admitted that the knock didn't look good and The Times report that the full back is facing a six week absence with the knee injury. It's a major blow for the right-back who has been in fine form for Everton in the English Premier League this term after recovering from an ankle problem that required surgery back in April.

He has displaced Goodison Park veteran Seamus Coleman to claim a spot in Frank Lampard 's starting line-up this term for the first time since his move from Rangers. He now faces a race to be back in action before the English top flight goes into hibernation in December ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

The Premier League will be put into cold storage from November 12. Everton's final fixture before the break is against Bournemouth.
