Nathan Collins sent off for brutal tackle on Jack Grealish in Wolves v Man City
Nathan Collins was sent off for a brutal challenge on Jack Grealish in the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
Wolves welcomed the reigning Premier League champions to Molineux as the underdogs.
Bruno Lage would have wanted his side to be resolute in defence and frustrate the Citizens.
But it was City who took the lead within a minute. Kevin De Bruyne swung a ball into the box and Jack Grealish converted from close range.
Erling Haaland then doubled his side’s lead 15 minutes later. The unstoppable forward marauded towards goal and fired a right-footed shot from outside the box into the bottom corner.
Wolves had their backs up against the wall and their hopes of getting back in the game were all but extinguished when Collins was sent off for a very high challenge on Grealish.
The defender, who signed for the Wolves in a £20.5 million move from Burnley in the summer, caught Grealish in the abdomen with a flying kick and was shown a straight red card by referee, Anthony Taylor.
Jermaine Jenas was covering the game on BT Sport and was very critical of Collins, calling it a ‘terrible challenge.’
The Irish defender protested but the sending off was never going to be overturned.

Collins continued his protests as he made his way to the dressing room.
BBC reporter Simon Stone was at Molineux and noted: “Nathan Collins made a slow walk to the
