Natasha Jonas warns Chris Namus her aggressive style will play right into her hands when they clash
Natasha Jonas has warned Chris Namus she will be playing right into her hands if she goes all-out attack on Saturday night.
Fan favourite ‘Miss GB’ faces the Uruguayan for the vacant WBO super-welterweight title this weekend on the undercard of Amir Khan‘s high-stakes clash with Kell Brook at the AO Arena in Manchester.
Jonas expects Namus to start on the front foot and try to make the most of her size and reach advantage.
But she would be happy to see her opponent leave herself open for the counter attack as she believes her ‘aggressive’ style could be her undoing.
“We were expecting Ema Piatkowska who was taller again, she was slightly heavier, had boxed at higher weights,” Jonas told GiveMeSport.
“Namus is no different really other than I think she is a little more attacking-minded.
“So she’s probably a little bit more aggressive, she will probably come out swinging at me, and I think that plays right into my hands.”
The former two-time world title challenger admits she has sacrificed everything she possibly can as she hopes to realise her dreams of becoming a world champion.
She revealed: “I feel a range of emotions. I feel happy. I feel excited. I feel nervous.
“But it’s here, I asked for it, I got it, what have I got to complain about?
“I think going up three weight divisions shows how dedicated I am to becoming a world champion.
“I don’t want to be sat up there as a Sky pundit and it read ‘world title challenger’, I want it to read ‘former world champion!’
“That’s why I do it, the sacrifices I make with my little girl and the family and events and social stuff
“I believe in myself, I’ve worked really hard, and I’m going to go and get it.”
