Nashville breaks Miami's MLS single-season points record - ESPN
Nashville SC set a new single-season MLS points record after reaching 77 points with its win over FC Cincinnati on the final day of the regular season Saturday.
Nashville went into its finale tied with Inter Miami's historic tally of 74 points, set in its first full season with Argentina star Lionel Messi in 2024.
Top scorer Sam Surridge made sure of topping Miami's mark with his 20th and 21st goals of the season in the second half to give Nashville a 2-0 victory.
«It's a massive achievement for the club, for us as players, and yeah, it's going to go down in history, and I think that was the message before the game,» Surridge said.
«It's hard to kind of keep the momentum going all season when you win something and then to go again. But we had that motivation to create history.»
As well as points, Nashville also set records for most wins (23), fewest losses (three), fewest goals conceded (25) and most home wins (15). It tied the mark for most shutouts with 17.
