Naomi Osaka’s heartwarming response after Daria Saville picks up nasty injury

Naomi Osaka showed true sportsmanship during her latest tennis match after her opponent, Daria Saville, was forced to retire in the first round of the Japan Open.

There was just one point on the board and seven minutes on the clock when Saville collapsed with a knee injury.

As the Australian waited for treatment, a concerned Osaka rushed over to make sure she was okay.

A video uploaded to Twitter by a spectator shows the four-time Grand Slam winner make her way over to the sidelines to grab a towel before running to Saville on the other side of the net.

Osaka kneeled down next to the world number 55 and covered her legs with the towel while they waited for the medic to arrive.

“Then I got really scared because I felt like as athletes we have a pretty high pain tolerance. It seemed really bad.”

The two tennis stars embraced at the end of the match and Osaka followed up by sending a touching ‘get well soon’ video message to her opponent.

“I just wanted to wish you the best, I hope you’re doing better,” she said. “I just want to let you know
