Naomi Osaka runs on underwater treadmill to overcome "stubborn" injury before Wimbledon
Naomi Osaka has shared footage of her ongoing treatment for a “stubborn” achilles injury.
The four-time Grand Slam winner has been hampered by her achilles since she sustained the injury in the first round of the Madrid Open.
She was then forced to pull out of the Italian Open, before crashing out of Roland-Garros in the opening round.
Osaka now faces a battle to be fit enough for Wimbledon, which gets underway on June 27th.
Part of her rehabilitation includes running on an underwater treadmill, which the 24-year-old shared a video of on Twitter.
“Here’s me running on a underwater treadmill because my Achilles is being stubborn still,” she wrote. “I must be ageing or something.”
Osaka discussed the injury after the Madrid Open, saying: “Yeah, I felt something in my Achilles after my last match, and like I wasn’t really able to hit yesterday because I wanted it to go away.”
