Nani sends message to Erik ten Hag after Manchester United vs Melbourne Victory in Australia

Former Manchester United favourite Nani has sent good wishes to Erik ten Hag for the new season.

United beat Melbourne Victory 4-1 on Friday in their second game of pre-season. Ten Hag picked a strong starting line-up once again, but that didn't stop the hosts from taking the lead within five minutes when scoring from a counter-attack.

United responded to that setback just before half-time through Scott McTominay's deflected effort. Anthony Martial got on the scoresheet just a few minutes after that goal and that ensured United went into the break with the lead.

Melbourne Victory failed to trouble United after the interval and the Reds eventually won 4-1 after a goal from Marcus Rashford and an own-goal from the A-League side. Nani has just signed for Melbourne and he made a small cameo towards the end of the match.

Nani was sold by United in 2015 and the match was the first time he's had the opportunity to play against his former club. Nani spoke after the game and he admitted it was a great feeling to play against United, while he also wished Ten Hag all the best.

"That was fantastic," Nani told MUTV. "What a great feeling, it's amazing when you can feel the warmth from the fans and it's nice when you come on a field and see some old teammates.

"All the good memories at Man United came into my head, makes me feel like I'm missing old times, but you need to look forward.

"I just want to wish all the success for the new coach, the new team, and I hope the club can get back in the position where they belong and start winning the trophies we are missing so much."
