Nahki Wells starts: The Bristol City XI we expect to see v West Brom

Bristol City won’t have it easy this weekend as they face off against West Brom but the Robins are well capable of coming away from the fixture with a positive result.

The Baggies have been on a bad streak over the last few months and it is one that has seen them drop completely out of the promotion race. Whilst they are not yet ruled out of the hunt for a play-off spot, it certainly won’t be easy to clamber back into the top six after such a bad run of form.

Bristol City on the other hand have been fighting near the bottom of the division but, when doing so, have often shown flashes of brilliance and with a squad containing some talented players, it has often left people in wonder as to why they are so low down in the standings.

That could be down to consistency, with the side having a great win one week only to follow it up with a humbling loss in the next (see three points against Blackburn followed by a loss to Barnsley for example). Nigel Pearson’s side though have the chance to put the dampener on West Brom’s spirits and here is the team that the boss could choose to help do just that.

Who will line up for Bristol City at the weekend and what style and system they will go with is actually a hard one to select given the injuries they suffered against Barnsley.

Playing in a 5-3-2 type system, they operated with Alex Scott in midfield only for the player to go off with an injury. He was replaced by Joe Williams, who then himself had to be substituted off after picking up a knock. Neither of those are therefore likely to feature this weekend and with options thin, that could mean a switch in formation to an actually more attacking, 5-2-1-2.

That would see Antoine Semenyo pushed further back into a role behind a strike
