'My stillborn son just looked asleep... I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy'

After five smooth pregnancies, Pam Morris never thought there would be a problem with her sixth. But at 36 weeks' gestation, tragedy struck.

Finnleigh, her little son, was stillborn. It left bar worker Pam 'devastated' and at her lowest point.

Now, ahead of the four-year anniversary of Finnleigh's stillbirth, Pam is speaking out to raise awareness and help other families who are struggling. She told Stoke-on-Trent Live: "He was stillborn in 2020. I was full-term and he just looked asleep. I was devastated.

"It was the lowest I have ever felt. I had no problems with my first five children. I just could not believe it. It does happen. There is nothing worse. I would not wish it on my worst enemy."

Pam, now 38, added: "There are a lot of women, and dads as well, who go through it but do not speak about it. It was lockdown when it happened to me, which made it worse.

"Men seem to hold it together. My partner, Darrel, tried to hold it together because of me. At the end of the day the mum carries them."

Pam, from Bentilee in Stoke-on-Trent, had five children when she lost Finnleigh. She has since gone on to have another child, Tallulah, who is now aged two.

Pam said: "I am lucky I have been able to have another child. A baby born after a mum suffers a baby loss is known as a rainbow child.

"It will be four years on October 26 when I lost Finnleigh. He is buried at Carmountside Crematorium. We always go down there on his birthday and let balloons off in the field. The whole family goes."
