My love for Napoli is unwavering, declares Osimhen

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has declared that his love for the Napoli badge is unwavering despite his travails at the club in the last one week.

He had a spat with coach Rudi Garcia, who took him off after missing a penalty in Napoli’s 0-0 draw with Bologna in a Serie A game last weekend.

Napoli‘s admin on TikTok thereafter released two highly controversial videos, with one mocking Osimhen over his penalty miss against Bologna while the other compared him to a coconut.

Osimhen‘s agent, Robert Calenda, threatened to take Napoli to court over the TikTok videos, while there have also been speculations about the Super Eagles’ striker leaving Napoli as early as the winter transfer window in January.

On Sunday, however, Osimhen issued a personal statement about Napoli and his situation on his social media handles.

“Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me,” the 24-year-old wrote.

“The People of Napoli have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us.

“The passion of the People of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride.

“The accusations against People of Naples are untrue. I have a lot of friends that are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life.

“I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for leading their voices to support and reach out to me.

“I’m forever grateful. Let’s support unity, respect and understanding. FORZA NAPOLI SEMPRE,” the striker posted.
