Murder arrest after man killed as van 'driven into' group of people in Derbyshire town

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a van ploughed into a group of people in a Derbyshire town, killing one person and injuring two more.

Derbyshire Constabulary said emergency services were called to the Market Place in Ilkeston just before 2.10am this morning (Saturday, December 16) to reports that a number of people had been struck by a van. One man tragically died at the scene of the incident, the Mirror reports.

Two others were treated for injuries in hospital, which are not thought to be serious. One man, believed to be the van’s driver, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

"At this time, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, and do not believe it is terrorism related.
