Munster's Shane Daly: 'It just takes one of these games to go our way'

Shane Daly believes Munster are just one statement win away from turning their season around.

Graham Rowntree's side sit tenth in the BKT United Rugby Championship with the New Year's Day loss to Connacht the latest in a series of disappointing results.

The 22-9 reverse in Galway came on the back of second one-score derby defeat to Leinster, and a loss and a draw against Exeter and Bayonne, respectively, in the Champions Cup.

In addition, the URC champions lost Oli Jager and Jack O'Donoghue to injury, the duo joining 17 others currently sidelined.

"Definitely," said winger Daly when asked if there's optimism they can get out of the slump ahead of the Champions Cup match away to Toulon on 13 January.

"There's no-one going to sit and tell you we’re under pressure or that we don’t think we’re going to turn this around because we’ve been in worse positions than this.

"So we’re very confident it will swing. It just takes one of these games to go our way.

"We’re looking at every game to be that [turning-point] game.

"We have what we need. We’ve won these tough games away on the road before so we really believe in what we’re doing.

"[Monday was] very frustrating again but a lot of the stuff we were doing was actually quite good, it was just losing balls and simple things so we need to just trust our own plan because we know it works, it won us the league last year."

While Munster expect more of themselves on the pitch, they are having to deal with a scarcely believable injury list.

Asked how that affects morale in the camp, the two-cap Ireland international said: "It can be tough but we have a really good coaching staff that stay positive regardless of what has happened the week before.
