Munster fans to paint Cape Town red with 5 000 expected to land for URC final

Saturday's United Rugby Championship Grand Final may see Cape Town Stadium dressed up in the blue, navy and white colours of the Stormers, but there will also be a distinctive presence of supporters clad in Munster red.

Irish online publication City A.M. reported that up to 5 000 Munster fans will descend on Cape Town for Saturday's final, with 2 000 having obtained tickets to enter the 55 000-seater ground in Greenpoint.

Tickets that were made available last week Thursday were sold out within three hours, but that hasn't dampened the spirit of the travelling supporters.

With the exchange rate between the rand and the pound (R23.86) and the euro (R20.73) swaying heavily in favour of the northern hemisphere, tickets retailed for about £3.34 at the cheapest.

The most expensive tickets were £15, while tickets for last week's Champions Cup final between Leinster and La Rochelle in Dublin went for £55 (R1 312).

Saturday's final, if all the fans come through, is in line to become the most well-attended URC final, with the 2019 Grand Final hosted by Glasgow's Celtic Park between Glasgow and Leinster being the highest attended one (47 125 fans).

City A.M. also reported that Munster, in partnership with Rugby Travel Ireland, offered a package spanning five days and including a chartered flight, activities and tickets that were priced at €2 295 (R47 575) per person sharing or €895 (R18 553) without flights, with the package selling out.
