Munster confirm departure of centre Antoine Frisch

Antoine Frisch will leave Munster at the end of the season, with his move to Toulon confirmed by the province.

The 27-year-old's departure had been expected after the Irish-qualified centre revealed his intention to represent his native France at Test level.

Frisch joined Munster from Bristol Bears in the summer of 2022, and proved to be an instant hit at Thomond Park, scoring three tries in 18 games as he helped Graham Rowntree's side to the BKT United Rugby Championship title. This season, he has continued that strong form with six tries in 21 appearances.

While he was born in France, it looked like he was on course to represent Ireland at senior level, but having featured for Emerging Ireland on their tour of South Africa in 2022, a senior call-up never materialised.

Frisch was called up to the French squad in the second half of the Six Nations, which prompted speculation he would return to his home country this summer.

The centre's three-year contract had been due to run until the summer of 2025, and it's believed Munster have received compensation from Toulon for his signature this summer. The province have already signed Connacht's Tom Farrell to replace him in the squad next season.

Frisch is now expected to make his French debut this summer, with Fabien Galthie's side touring South America in July.
