Munster 64-3 Dragons: Welsh side hammered in 10-try Irish thrashing

The Dragons fell to their biggest league defeat with a humiliating ten-try thrashing away to Munster in the United Rugby Championship.

Having not won in their last nine matches, dating back to October 9th and a trip to Connacht, optimism over ending that run was understandably low as they headed to Limerick.

However, most fans would have hoped that the scoreline didn't end up quite as one-sided as it did - with the Dragons having no answer to the home side's efforts.

Munster had wrapped up the bonus point before the break.

A brace from Ireland scrum-half Craig Casey put the home side on top early on - with his two tries coming either side of the Dragons' only points through the boot of Sam Davies.

However, from the kick-off following Casey's second try, Munster went coast to coast to set up captain Jack O'Donoghue and from there, it became a question of not whether the home side would win, but rather by how much.

Chris Cloete crossed for the bonus point minutes before the break, before three tries in six minutes just before the hour-mark took the scoreline from a heavy defeat to just embarrassing.

Simon Zebo, Chris Farrell and Shane Daly were the grateful recipients - with Farrell's once again coming from a botched kick-off from the Dragons immediately after conceding.

Munster didn't ease off in the final quarter, with Cloete, Josh Hodnett and O'Donogue all crossing to take the hosts well beyond the half-century and inflict further punishment on a Dragons side short of confidence.

With victory, the Irish province move up to third in the URC table above Edinburgh and Glasgow.

As for the Dragons, in the midst of perhaps their worst season to date, they remain 15th with just one win.
