Mum with newborn baby angered by woman's comment in supermarket car park

A mum has hit out after she was criticised for taking her newborn baby to the supermarket in the rain.

The woman said she had no choice but to take her three-month-old shopping because she had no food and her husband was at work.

But when she was walking across the car park, another woman gave her 'a nasty look' and shouted at her about 'bringing a baby out in this weather'.

Sharing the experience on Reddit, the mum said: "Today I went to the store with my 3 month old. It was raining out, which wasn’t ideal, but my husband was at work and I had no food in the house, so I had to go. As I was quickly walking through the parking lot with my baby in his car seat, a lady gave me a nasty look and loudly commented about 'bringing a baby out in this weather'.

"I didn’t say anything and kept walking, but seriously, do people think we do this for fun? I would have loved to leave my baby at home and spend 20 minutes of alone time at the store, but that wasn’t possible. My baby was also bundled up and stayed dry the whole time. Next time I’ll ask her if she wants to babysit."

The mum was inundated with responses from people, many of them fellow parents who sympathised with her situation.

"Huh. It's lovely that she thinks your baby is so sweet he's made of sugar, and he'll melt in the rain. That's darling!" said one. "And yeah. Grocery trips with kids in tow are not generally because we WANT to..."
