Mum suffers embarrassing mishap during parents’ race at sports day

Parents embarrassing children is just part of the job when you have kids, however, doing so in front of your child’s school takes it to a whole new level, as Katie Hannaford found out.

The 36-year-old was taking part in the parents’ race after her eight-year-old daughter convinced her to take part in the ‘spectacle’ only to be left red faced by her mother.

As the race got underway, everything looked fine for the competitors with no hiccups, until Hannaford decided to entertain everyone.

She trips herself up and goes head first into the ground, something that on face value (if you pardon the pun) is hilarious in itself.

She doesn’t stop there though, on top of the face plant, her dress comes up to her head and exposes her underwear to all the onlookers made up of teachers, students and other parents.

You can see the shock in the children’s faces as they look away, with one teacher/parent holding their mouth to show their shock at the mishap.

The mother instantly realises what has happened and is quick to cover herself back up for her own sake, after providing her daughter with enough embarrassment to fill a lifetime!

Undoubtedly an incredibly embarrassing moment, but one Hannaford has taken in her stride and in good spirits, despite initially being mortified.

When talking about her ordeal, she said: “I’m not sporty at all, but [my daughter] kept begging me, in the end I agreed to the race – I knew I’d come last.

“I just tripped over my own feet – I think my body was just moving too fast for my legs! I’m so clumsy, I’m always falling over.

“I was humiliated at the time, but it is what it is! I flashed my underwear which is obviously embarrassing but you just have to own it.”
