Mum of missing Ben Ross issues first statement after he was found alive

The mother of Benjamin Ross says she is "so relieved" at being reunited with her son after he was found alive. Ben, 26, a trainee barrister from Golborne in Wigan, had been missing in Majorca since July 10, when his mum Felix Robinson lost contact with him.

However, the pair were today reunited at the British Consulate in the city of Palma. He is said to have arrived there earlier today (Tuesday) 'tired and drained but alive.'

He had suffered a 'series of unfortunate events' including having his possessions stolen whilst going for a swim his family said. Felix has now spoken out and thanked the media and the public for their their help with the search.

In a statement on tn a GoFundMe which had been set up to aid the search, she said: ”I’m so incredibly grateful for all the help and support we’ve received. Everyone has been truly incredible. We are so relieved to have found him and are now focussed on getting him back to full health and home safe and well.”

The family are now arranging an emergency passport for Ben who will travel home once he has received treatment for 'dehydration and exhaustion.'

A statement issued on the family's behalf, by the GoFundMe organiser Carla Speight said: ""For now, Felix and her family are requesting some privacy whilst they get Ben back to full strength and home, and they want to extend their thanks to the press, media and public for all their support in finding him" the statement issued on behalf of the family says.

The fundraiser, which received donations totalling £3,857 has now been closed. "Donations to the GoFundMe that was set up by friends will be donated to Andy’s Man Club once they arrive home over the next week" Ms Speight
