Mum 'living in fear' refuses to spend time in her own back garden

A mum said she no longer uses her own back garden due to 'fear' over the number of car crashes on the road behind her home.

Laura Collard said there have been dozens of accidents on the road behind her property in Netherley since she moved in around five years ago, the Liverpool Echo reports. The mum installed a CCTV camera 'just in case a car comes through the back' and now never sits in her back yard.

The 36-year-old said she and her neighbours worry for their own safety as cars have previously crashed though brick walls and into their gardens. Laura said she has contacted the council over her concerns but 'nobody ever gets back'.

Liverpool City Council said bosses plan to 'undertake a review of the location'.

Laura, who lives on Childwall Valley Road said: "We have lived here for four or five years, and when we first moved in we were told that a car had gone through the back fence around three years before.

"We didn't think much of it until it happened while we were living there. We have had to install a CCTV camera just in case a car comes through the back.

"We have caught cars going through next door's back wall, and people who live over the road from us. We don't use our back garden anymore just in case somebody comes through, we're lucky to have a front garden we can use.

"Our next door neighbours don't even mow their grass anymore or go out the back because it just happens over and over again. It's scary."
