Mum gives birth in Tesco

A pregnant mum was left with quite the surprise after entering her local Tesco store to buy paracetamol and cat food.

Lauren Ewings, 27, said she woke up in some pain on Monday, January 22 but she assumed it was just Braxton Hicks, otherwise known as fake labour pains. So she decided to make a quick shopping trip to the Tesco Superstore in Tiverton after dropping her eldest child off at school.

Before entering the store though, Lauren's waters had broken. She rushed to the store's disabled toilets to clean herself up and called her partner to collect her, Devon Live reports.

Lauren, a mum of three, said: "I woke up that morning with a bit of pain, took my eldest to school and then went to Tesco to get some paracetamol and cat food. As I was walking into the store, my waters went.

"So I thought I'd take myself to the toilets to clean myself up and go home because my partner could just walk over and grab me and the car."

But things were progressing much quicker than Lauren had anticipated and a member of staff soon found her in the toilets. They pulled up a privacy screen and began helping Lauren deliver her son, Edward, who arrived in only 30 minutes.

Lauren added: "I got into the disabled toilets and five or 10 minutes later, I felt a heavy pressure down below so I called my mum. She called the ambulance cause I was in so much pain. My auntie, who was with her at the time, called Tesco Tiverton to try and get someone to come and help me.

"I'd been on the phone for about 10 minutes and then five minutes later, Lisa, who works at Tesco came in and then two minutes later I crouched down and he started coming out. Two minutes later, I delivered the
