Mum, 39, who thought she had pulled muscle dies two weeks after diagnosis
A 'fantastic and amazing' mother tragically passed away just two weeks after discovering the cause of her severe pain. Holly West, 39, was a mother to two daughters, Grace and Paige, with her ex-husband Michael.
Last year, Holly began experiencing intense pain that left her dependent on her family for support, initially believing she had pulled a muscle. However, following a hospital visit in September, Holly received the heartbreaking news that she had bowel cancer which had metastasised to her lungs and brain.
Despite undergoing surgery, Holly's condition deteriorated rapidly and she sadly passed away two weeks post-diagnosis. Holly had sought medical advice for her pain on multiple occasions, during which time her daughters, Paige, 17, and Holly, 16, cared for her.
Michael, 40, from Birkenhead, told the ECHO: "For eight or nine months, she wa complaining of neck pains, back pains and belly pain. The girls had been looking after her between going to school and college.
"Holly was a very proud woman. She didn't like to ask for help unless it was really necessary. She thought she'd pulled a muscle because that's what she was getting told by doctors. They did a full body scan and found she had bowel cancer, which had spread to her lungs and her brain."
Holly underwent emergency brain surgery to remove one of her tumours, but her condition worsened. A second operation was performed to lessen the pressure on her brain, yet she could not be saved.
Michael said: "She never woke up from it. On October 13, her life support was turned off and she slowly passed away.
"Holly was always there for them. Everything she did, she did for the girls. She was an amazing parent. She pushed them to try and get the best out of them. She was
