Braces from John Carew and Ashley Young and the de rigueur derby goal for Gabby Agbonlahor have passed into the stuff of club legend. But where are the heroes from that day now? We take a look.

Scott Carson

Loaned to Villa from Liverpool in the summer of 2007, Carson played 38 times for Villa that season - and was rarely troubled in this derby.

He returned to Liverpool later that summer but was quickly sold to West Brom - where he spent the next three years.

He went on to Buraspor in Turkey, Wigan and in 2015 signed a three year deal with Derby. After leaving Pride Park he incredibly signed a deal to join Manchester City. He's 36 now and earlier this month played in the Champions League aganist Sporting Lisbon.

The man that was once signed for 30 tracksuits, Zat Knight also headed for the US, joining Colorado Rapids in 2014 but his stint lasted just five months.

The twice-capped England international later joined Reading, but would retire in 2015.

The Swedish defender remains an incredibly popular figure at Villa following his seven years service for the club.

Mellberg left Villa ten years ago for Italian giants Juventus, but not without saying goodbye properly. The defender bought a shirt for each of the 3,100 Villans who travelled to West Ham for his final match.

Since retiring from the game Mellberg has forged a career in management and did an excellent job with Swedish minnows IF Brommapojkarna, leading them to back-to-back promotions in his two seasons at the helm.
