MotoGP Valencia: Marquez still ‘learning every weekend’

Marc Marquez heads to Valencia looking to strengthen his 2023 MotoGP prospects as his recovery continues on the Repsol Honda RC213V.

After a month of long-haul flights and flyaway action, the Spaniard is back on home soil and at a circuit he is both familiar and successful at. The eight-time champion’s last visit to Circuit Ricardo Tormo saw him on the top step in 2019, his most recent of six premier class victories at the track.

With both the final round of the year and the all-important post-race test beckoning, Marquez is eager to fine-tune his progress in preparation for a full, and ideally injury-free, 2023.

“The last race in a long and very different kind of year,” Marquez acknowledged ahead of Valencia. “We’ve been learning every weekend since we came back and that’s the objective again for this race.

“I think Valencia will suit our bike better than in Sepang, so hopefully we can be closer to the front.

“It’s a track where I have had good results in the past and you get some close races because of the layout. No matter what, I think it will be an exciting weekend for the fans with both the Moto2 and MotoGP titles on the line.”
