MotoGP Sepang Shakedown: Crutchlow’s control continues on day two

Yamaha’s Cal Crutchlow remained in control for day two of the MotoGP shakedown test at Sepang after a frenetic final hour on Monday.

The British rider concluded the second day on track in Malaysia with a 2’02.079 best, less than his Sunday offering but over half a second clear of nearest rivals Michele Pirro and Augusto Fernandez.

After rain dampened the action for the second day of shakedown running at Sepang just the final hour allowed the times to tumble. GasGas Rookie Fernandez had initially enjoyed a foray at the top of the times across the midday running before Ducati’s Pirro took charge on a more standard set-up than seen on day one. Aprilia tester Lorenzo Savadori was the first out on slicks as the late afternoon counted down, with the Italian showcasing an ‘innovative front fairing’ according to Team Manager Paolo Bonora.

The final hour saw the times ignite as conditions improved with Crutchlow back on top after working across three YZR-M1’s. KTM’s Dani Pedrosa running under the radar for the majority of the past two days as he put the RC16 through its paces without a transponder.
