MotoGP Jerez: Dixon ‘disappointed but not worried, rhythm is good’

Despite dominating Moto2 practice session at Jerez, Autosolar GasGas Aspar’s Jake Dixon was unable to convert his pace in qualifying.

A late fall exacerbated what had already been his most difficult session of the weekend so far, putting paid to a final challenge as he attempted to promote himself above his 11th place position. The 1’41.966 lap, set after the opening four revolutions, the best the Brit could muster, leaving him 0.677s adrift of Ai Ogura’s pole time.

Once again, teammate Albert Arenas will line up alongside the 26-year-old for Sunday’s 23-lap race, from the back of the fourth row. “Disappointed, wanted something more after being fastest in free practice,”Dixon admitted on Saturday afternoon. “My rhythm is good and I think that with the team we can work on some improvement that will help us.

“We start from behind, but I am not worried because I think we can fight for the podium or the victory.”
