Motherwell vs Aberdeen set for pitch inspection as Jim Goodwin's Dons bow under threat
New Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin may be forced to wait for his Dons dugout debut as Motherwell announced a pitch inspection at Fir Park.
The Irishman was confirmed as the new Pittodrie manager on Saturday morning and the club announced he would take immediate charge for the Premiership trip to Lanarkshire.
But Scotland has been battered by wild winds and heavy rainfall this week and it's put the fixture in doubt.
Motherwell have scheduled a "precautionary" assessment at 10am to ensure fans do not travel unnecessarily.
A club statement said: “Our match with Aberdeen is subject to a pitch inspection at 10am.
“We have requested this early inspection as a precaution to ensure supporters do not travel unnecessarily, should the game be postponed.”
Goodwin has signed a two-and-a-half year deal to replace Stephen Glass at Pittodrie.
The 40-year-old leaves St Mirren in the Premiership top six following a successful stint in charge which also included runs to the Scottish Cup and League Cup semi-finals last term.
