Motherwell reveal US investor talks as Taylor Swift 'gies some dosh' video plea answered

Motherwell are one step closer to a bumper investment after revealing talks with a US-based family are at an advanced stage.

The Steelmen are of one three teams in the Premiership to be "fan owned" with supporters from The Well Society completing a move to become majority shareholders in the Fir Park club back in 2016. Back in January, Motherwell actively called for financial backing after sharing a video pleading with US pop superstar Taylor Swift to 'gie us some dosh' that quickly circulated around social media.

And in a statement, Motherwell have now revealed that that they have reached a non-binding Head of Terms agreement with US investors and that the vote to go through with the partnership will be put forward to club shareholders once the necessary legal documents have been thrashed out.

The club statement read: "The Executive Board of the Club would like to confirm that investment discussions with a US-based family have reached the point where both parties wish to move forward to the next stage and have therefore entered into an agreement on a non binding Heads of Terms. Both parties will now work on formalising these into a legal framework which can be put to a shareholders vote.

"The investor has expressed his desire to work in partnership with the Well Society. The process of formalising the Heads of Terms is likely to take around six weeks and we will keep you updated on progress."

Should the vote be passed, Motherwell would be the second top-flight club to secure investment from across the pond this year.
