Motherwell 'all ears for Hollywood investment' as they launch ad campaign seeking new backers

Motherwell have launched a advertising campaign in a bid to encourage investment in the Scottish Premiership outfit - with a nod to Hollywood stars taking over football clubs.

The Steelmen have produced a 90-second video, which features a nod to A-lister Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's takeover of Welsh club Wrexham, in a cheeky bid to attract A-list investors to ML1.

The video even ends with one young fan hoping music royalty may be listening, with the quip: "Taylor Swift gies some dosh!"

Fir Park chiefs have stressed they are on sound financial footing, but they are seeking backing to take the club to the next level on and off the pitch.

It comes after outgoing CEO Derek Weir spoke at length on the club's YouTube channel yesterday, moving to allay fears that the club were facing financial difficulties.

Reynolds and McElhenney have transformed Wrexham since taking control of the Red Dragons in 2020, leading them to promotion to the English Football League and producing a Golden Globe-winning documentary on the club's journey.

And while Motherwell know Hollywood probably won't come calling, they admit they will welcome any interest from near or far.

A statement from club chairman Jim McMahon read: "We have launched a campaign to attract new investment to support the work our club does both on and off the pitch.

"The campaign features a tongue in cheek 90-second film, which riffs on the growing trend of US celebs owning UK football teams.

"We're proudly a fan owned club but we are always looking for ways to do more and achieve bigger things.

"This is a slightly, out of the box approach, but with it, we hope we can increase Well Society memberships or find businesses or individuals whose values align with ours.
