Mother of teenager accused of murder tells court she's 'proud' of her son

The mother of a teenage boy accused of murdering a 63-year-old man from Bolton has told a jury she was proud of him.

The boy, 16, cannot be named for legal reasons. He is currently on trial for the murder of Ghulam Raja in Luton last November, who died after he was stabbed to the head.

But in court today, the teen’s mother said her son ‘saved her’. The woman claimed she was being attacked by Mr Raja at an address in Dorrington Close, Luton, on the afternoon of Monday, November 15, last year. She said that her son came to her aid.

He had been stabbed four times with a kitchen knife, once to the leg and three times to the head and neck. One wound entered the brain and caused a catastrophic fatal injury.

The prosecutor said: “The victim lay down on a bed and was bleeding very
